On Friday I drove to Altadena to bartend a 25th birthday party. The birthday boy had flown in from New York to attend his own party. About 30 guests, friends and family members showed up to help celebrate, and I think a good time was had by all.
I made Old Fashioneds, Long Island Ice Teas, and Kamikaze shots. The host had a well stocked home bar that I worked from, while most of the guests were by the fire pit outside. Altadena is bear country and the hosts have had bears in their backyard, and have seen several mountain lions and bobcats in the neighborhood.

The host’s mom made some of the food and they brought in traditional Armenian food from a nearby restaurant, and it was all delicious. Lula kebabs, stuffed grape leaves, pita bread, and humus – all great stuff. No bears or bobcats showed up.
After the 25th birthday party ended, I had to return home and prepare for a wedding in Acton the next day.
